To engage people in the industry I want to let them get inside Gradually by inviting them to the workshop in the city. When I made my research with people at advertising agencies, they often talked about invitations to different events where the business people meet up with eachother and perhaps get something to eat while listening to a presentation etc. This thought lingered in my head, and I’ve been having this really nice idea in mind for some time, and it is time to bring it up to the surface!

The idea is that Gradually will send out special invitations to the creative industry offices, inviting them to a brunch at the workshop, where they will be able to chat with members of the organisation - on one condition: that they bring a short brief along. This brief will be handed to members divided in groups, and during the brunch, the members will work towards a solution, and at the end of the brunch they will present their submission in front of the business people.

This idea will create a relationship and a nice first bond between Gradually and the industry, and it will hopefully increase the interest of the organisation and what they offer. business peple will see the great talents in action, and see what each one of them can offer their specific agency. It will give the organisation a great start, and make more people interested with young talents, our ability and achievements!

Climbing the ladder is the sh*t!

A new approach to chocolate packaging, found it at the candy store in berry square. What an outside the box idea…for ones it really fits!

Today I finally got my ads ready, and put them into a single spread and on the billboard. I changed the body to “and help them climb the ladder”, because it relates better to the logotype. I also checked the spelling and, tada, apparently I can’t spell colleague… (shh don’t tell anyone).

Tomorrow I’m going to do some photo shooting tomorrow for my Guerilla (which I also ridiculously misspelled and called it Gorilla) (you can stop laughing now).

See yaha!

This is todays draft, including all my marketing ideas. I’ve got below, above and guerilla, and all of them somehow relates to one another.
I’ve already shown you my ads for magazine and the billboard, but here are also the bus ad and the gorilla campaign.
The bus sign are going to be based on a “inside-the-bus” picture, where the (imaginary) people inside have got one of the celebrity faces attached to their heads. The headline is going to say something like “Somewhere a star is hidden”. The other version is people in the same position, though the third one is, instead of sitting, climbing up a ladder inside the bus.
The guerilla campaign is going to be based on a cut-out person (symbolizing a member of Gradually) placed around the city, prefferably positioned close to media agencies. I want people to react and maybe move these dolls, perhaps put them at their office to see how they “fit”. The second idea is placing a ladder on the streets, leaning against walls, close to the cut-out ad, to symbolize the “climbing” that gradually provides. I think it will be a fun idea, where people will try to climb it, stand on it, or take photos with it. Any sort of engagement is good, and I’m sure there would be.

Cîao!

Some very big changes has been happening to my ads, which I think is really starting to work out well. I really like to develop the ads from class to class, but still with the basic idea intact.

This time, I’ve decided to use famous people around the world that are recognizable to my target audience (25-65), which relates to the message with a sense of humour and nostalgia.

The different famous persons are for example Tom Jones, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Mick Jagger etc. They’ve all had an impact on a lot of different people, and they’ve had/are still having a successfull career. That’s the feeling that I want to express about the members of Gradually, that they are the undiscovered talents that are just waiting to be brought up to daylight.

I’ve also changed the copy of the ads, which is more aimed at expressing the opportunity for the industry to discover a real good talent for their agency. The heading of the ads is still not settled yet, but I think Im close to the solution.

I’m going to create 2 billboard ads, 2 magazine ads, 2 buss ads and finally 2 banners on the net. Some of them are going to be slightly change due to the layout, but my concept works very well with different size’s and solutions.

Now I’m about to finalize my Gorilla idea, and I believe that this is going to be a really fun part!

I’l be back:o

Photoshop

I’m having a bit of a struggle with photoshop at the moment. A lot of the elements in my ads are made in ps, and I know exactly what I want, but not how to create it. It’s a bit frustrating, but I will fight and win.

Oh btw, Im changing my bg pictures to pics of the different creative industries, and putting the famous faces in there. I’ve added Nicole Kidman as one of the females, and I’m still considering a couple of more famous people.

Wish me good luck, and perhaps also prepare a nice spot on the harbour bridge before I jump.

Syns!

Updated ad.
Today I’ve done one new version, because if this one is aiming in the right direction, I know how to do the other ones as well.
The changes I’ve made are all aiming at making the ad more rough, dynamic and interesting. It looks as if someone has been ripping out a picture of a garbage truck, and put Obama’s face on the garbage man, with a needle holding it up.
This way of making the ad look more attentive is better rather than me creating a bad photoshop “real looking” picture. And everyone (even dumbasses) will understand that Obama isn’t really a garbage man, but just a montage. I also made the bg picture in black&white, while the “face” of the famous person is in colour; that makes the face stand out more.
The thing now is the copy, I want to properly get the message out that the industry people should consider get an intern, because he or she might be “the next Obama (or Einstein, Mandela, Princess Diana etc) in advertising”, i o w, someone who’ll do a good job and make an impact on the world/society. Someone who’s going to do great stuff and affect people.
Nathan said that I should change the copy, because he didn’t really get it. I added the word office in the end of the first line, but still the second line intails that people in the industry should take pity on the students (but that’s definitely not the point). So I’m still thinking how to change that line.
Otherwise I believe that my ad/ads are clear, interesting and vivid, whilst playing on humour. I think humour is important, especially in the advertising bussiness.

These are my drafts for the ads promoting Gradually. The target audience is as said the fellas’ in the creative industry. I want to communicate and sympathesize with them, by making them familiar with the faces on the ads and easily get the message that I want to express.

The idea is to make people think “what if this person worked as something totally different?” How would the society be effected if this person didn’t reach it’s aimed industry?

I want people to think that the unumployed graduated students trying to get in to the industry are undisvocered geniuses/importan persons that will make incredible things. There’s something special in each and everyone of us, and we just need some help to develop it, and someone to believe in us.

I want a fun but effective approach to make people in the industry contact Gradually and engage in the organisation by providing internships.

I’m not sure yet if I’m going to let the ads look more like the one with princess Diana, where the “avatar” for a specific job i spresented - both to make the famous face stand out and to simplify the message. This is what I want Nathan to help me with today at class.
